What Is A Cold Formed Building?
Traditional steel buildings are constructed with “hot formed steel”, manufactured in a foundry. Traditional buildings typically feature heavy gauge steel, and are capable of supporting a wide range of applications from industrial manufacturing needing cranes and lifts to office spaces with multiple floors requiring higher live loads. Cold formed buildings utilize a thinner gauge steel that is bent into a cee-shaped member. The end result is a building that is cheaper to manufacture, with a shorter lead time, but less load-bearing capability.
Which Type Of Building Is Right For My Needs?
